Scritto insieme al vocalist londinese QNTN aka DWY, WHAT YOU NEED vede anche la coproduzione di James Rushent, meglio conosciuto per le sue collaborazioni con The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro e Dillon Francis. Il video è girato da Folkert Verdoorn e prodotto dal berlinese LeBerg e da HPLA, Los Angeles.

Quella di AY AY non è stata una vita semplice, tra dipendenze e un disturbo dissociativo diagnosticato negli anni dell’adolescenza. Cicatrici che si sono fatte sentire e che hanno portato a un’urgenza compositiva scaraventata con forza sul genere meno convenzionale possibile, quello immerso tra vibrazioni sconfinate.
WHAT YOU NEED sa essere tempesta elettronica dopo la quiete iniziale, un loop che diventa inno al movimento esistenziale, naturalmente scandito dai beat: "people tend to let their external world determine who they are and how they have to think. That’s bullshit, you’ll end up not knowing yourself. To some people my music and my ambitions may seem too big, but actually it represents so clearly who I am and the energy I feel when thinking about how I broke out from the narrow-minded reality I was born in.”
